It's a GREEN Day!

Tomorrow is my birthday! One could not have a better day than St. Patrick’s Day to have a birthday on.  You get to wear GREEN on your birthday and if you don’t you'll get pinched!  Think of all the attention of getting pinched…NOT!  Ouch! That hurts!  Oh…you get to watch parades, drink green beer, I think not, not a beer drinker, but celebrate I will.  My hubby says I’m not Irish but after looking at Ancestry.com I find I do have Irish Ancestry in my linage, going all the way back to the early 1700’s
One just has to wear the socks to be official!

We were going to go to the RV show today, but it’s just too blasted cold and windy.  I have the day off tomorrow, maybe we will go look then if the weather is better.  Sometimes RV lots will still carry over their sales prices.

Last night we went to Wally world and while cruising through the home goods area, they had just put out their spring-summer plastic ware.  I saw these
Lap trays, perfect for the RVer!

and had to snatch 7 up.  Bobbie Chapman introduced me to them, read about it here, and ever since then I have been looking for lap trays.  I had seen these in past years but the color was not what I was looking for.  This year the color was spot on and I knew if I didn't get them now they would be gone by next week.  So my official first purchase for the RV!  If you’re sitting outside under the awning these are perfect for having your lunch off of.

We have been going through lots of boxes sorting out the junk that we have needed to get rid of for a long time.  It’s slow work but rewarding to finally get rid of it.  Lots of paper to take to the recycle truck.

We have new RV friends that we are going to meet up with. Earlene and Victor live just a few miles down the road from us.  Crazy thing is that we had to meet on the Internet to find out they lived so close.  They are trying to sell their home and become full-time RVers.

We have two new followers on our blog.  Janet and Kevin Shaw of Seize the Day RV Adventure.  They are RVer wannabes, looking to get out on the road soon, and Ed Hurlburt of  Ed’s RV Tips, and his wife Debi of Debi’s RV Cooking.  Ed is full of tips about your RV and how to maintain it and Debi has a knock out site on cooking in your RV.  Go check out all these new sites and enjoy.

Here is a little ditty for you in celebration of “The Wearin’ o’ the Green

The Wearin’ o’ the Green

By Anonymous

OH, Paddy dear! and did ye hear the news that’s goin’ round?
The shamrock is forbid by law to grow on Irish ground!
No more St. Patrick’s day we’ll keep; his colour can’t be seen,
For there’s a cruel law ag’in’ the Wearin’ o’ the Green!

I met with Napper Tandy, and he took me by the hand,

And he said, “How’s poor ould Ireland, and how does she stand?”

“She’s the most distressful country that ever yet was seen,
For they’re hanging men and women there for the Wearin’ o’ the Green.

An’ if the colour we must wear is England’s cruel red,
Let it remind us of the blood that Ireland has shed;

Then pull the shamrock from your hat, and throw it on the sod,
An’ never fear, ’twill take root there, though under foot ’tis trod.

When law can stop the blades of grass from growin’ as they grow,
An’ when the leaves in summer time their colour dare not show,
Then I will change the colour, too, I wear in my caubeen;

But till that day, plaise God, I’ll stick to the Wearin’ o’ the Green.

Have a great day tomorrow…

“May the road rise up to meet you

May the wind be always at your back

May the sun shine warm upon your face

And the rain fall soft upon your fields

And until we meet again

May God hold you in the palm of his hand”

Irish Blessings

Time Does Get Away...

Once a year we get to SPRING FORWARD!!!  Normally it's not exactly my favorite time of year as it take us older folks a bit of time to adjust.  This morning I had totally forgotten to set my clocks forward last night. So when I did wake up, with sunlight pouring in the window, I actually felt refreshed and ready to go.  What did you say? It's already 9:30 and  the Dr.s on TV are talking about MS? Wow my Sunday morning is almost half over.

I have been working on the dreaded taxes.  One of these years I will have it down to a science as to what I have to keep and what I can toss and no longer worry about.  So far it's been going pretty smoothly.

I'm officially a member of the Medicare crowd. My birthday is next week and I will defiantly be wearing GREEN.

This winter has been a long one for us.  One day it's sunny the next we have ice and snow, then warm, then cold.  I will be glad when it quits being cold and I can stop wearing my winter gear.  This last snow killed all my daffodils which made me sad as it was going to be a beautiful show of flower.  I guess I will have to settle for the happy flowers below!
A happy sight!

My little dog is yipping telling me that it's dinner time and to get on the stick and get him some dinner.

Stay safe and we'll see you out there soon...!  273 days to go!
